Space Jam (1996)
Another mixture of live action and cartoons. The Looney Tunes will be amusement
park attractions on an alien planet, unless they can win a basketball game.
So they call on the services of Michael Jordan to be on their team. All
of the cartoon characters have been enhanced with 3-D computer shading,
and the mixture of live action and animation works very well. The plot
is a bit lame, but sports-enthusiastic youth will certainly enjoy it. Yosemite
Sam doesn't have any dialogue, but he does appear in several scenes. Here
are his most-notable appearances:
-
When the aliens first arrive in the Looney Tune's town hall, Sam charges
at them, shooting off his guns. The aliens simply blast Sam with one blast
of their laser, frying off all his hair and clothes.
-
Michael Jordan is lassoed by Sam and brought into the Looney Tunes world.
-
Yosemite Sam spits on the basketball court so Tasmanian Devil can polish
the floor and Michael Jordan can train.
-
At the final basketball game, Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd appear with big
guns, sunglasses and suits to blow away the aliens -- Pulp Fiction-type
music is heard.
(Space Jam is available on video in mass quantity and reduced prices.
It's on VHS and DVD. A second "Special Edition" DVD was just released on
July 25th, 2000)
